The new 51-kilometer-long section built with the net investment of HUF 153.2 billion from the state budget will reduce the journey time between the city of Győr and the town of Sopron to 45 minutes.
The new section, opened this week, of the M85 motorway between the towns of Csorna and Sopron was built as a two-lane road in both directions with physical separation in the middle (strip barrier), without an emergency stopping lane, designed for a maximum speed of 110 kilometers per hour.
As part of the investment, 21 overpasses, 19 underpasses (2 of which are crossings between the motorway and the GYSEV railway line) and 15 road and railway frames were built, but a steel-structured railway bridge was also built above the motorway.
A complex resting place was built on the section at Babót, without a refueling station for the time being.
An extension of the current M85 motorway to the Austrian border is scheduled to be completd by 2024.
