Spar Hungary has invested HUF 2.7 billion in developing its logistics. Last year, the retail company spent more than HUF 700 million on developing its logistics center in Üllő, and this year it has created a new transshipment center in Budapest with an investment of approximately HUF 2 billion, which will make the supply of its stores in the capital more efficient, the company told MTI on Monday.
According to the information provided, the biggest daily task for the retail chain, which has 652 stores nationwide, is professional logistics, which ensures that products arrive at stores in the right quality and on time. The company employs approximately 1,800 people in the field of logistics, 250 of whom are truck drivers.
Spar's logistics center in Üllő was expanded last year with a new transport complex: the 410-square-meter building, constructed with an investment of approximately HUF 700 million, houses transport organization offices, a driver waiting room, changing rooms for truck drivers, and social rooms. The facility provides modern working conditions for the company's 150 employees. The building, which houses the entire transport organization and dispatch operations, is complemented by a 150-space car park, according to the announcement.
This year, the company established a transshipment center in the capital with an investment of nearly HUF 2 billion. The new center will help serve Budapest stores and contribute to the efficiency of logistics processes, thereby reducing the environmental impact, the announcement highlighted.
WSZL (Waberer's Szállítmányozási és Logisztikai Ltd.), a domestic subsidiary of the Waberer's Group, has been involved in supplying Spar stores in the Budapest area since last summer. Spar Hungary now works with seven transport subcontractors, which carry out daily transport tasks with a total of 90 vehicles. In addition, Spar's fleet includes 115 swivel-base, trailer-mounted refrigerated units, and the company announced that it will continue to expand this fleet this year by purchasing new units and hiring drivers.
