By the first day of the new year, another 130 Hungarians died of the complications of the new coronavirus infection. The deceased were mostly elderly, chronic patients, thus, the official number of COVID-19 related fatalities rose to 9,667 in this country.
The new coronavirus had been detected in 2,764 new Hungarian citizens, increasing the official number of infected people in Hungary to 325,278.
According to the data of the government website koronavirus.gov.hu, a total of six people under the age of 50 years died in the 24 hours prior to the first day of the new year.
The youngest victim of the epidemic is a 27-year-old woman who had been diagnosed with malignant connective tissue and soft tissue tumors; a 45-year-old woman had high blood pressure and Crohn's disease; a 48-year-old man suffered from hypertension, heart disease and diabetes; a 49-year-old man was also diabetic and struggled with heart enlargement, while a 49-year-old man had cancer.
