The EFOTT and the Campus Festival attracted a large number of guests this July, the Hungarian Tourism Agency (MTÜ) told MTI.
EFOTT, originally launched as the National Tourism Meeting of University and College Students, was again hosted in Sukoró, near Lake Velence, southwest of Budapest, where almost nine thousand guest nights were spent between July 12 and 16 by almost exclusively domestic guests (99%).
Guest numbers in Sukoró were 8% up on last year's event, while accommodation in other lakeside resorts also fared well.
For example, in Velence and Gárdony, turnover increased by almost 40%, while in nearby Pákozd and Kápolnásnyék, the number of overnight stays increased by one and a half times and almost two and a half times respectively.
According to the National Tourist Information Center (NTAK), the 19-34 age group was the most frequent visitors to accommodation around Lake Velence during the festival, accounting for 80% of the total number of visitors. Among them, 19-24-year-olds also had the most fun at Lake Velence, they added.
The Campus Festival, held between July 19 and 23, in Debrecen, E Hungary, is also a big favorite with the Hungarian public, with 82% of guests at the city's accommodation establishments during the five days of the festival, according to the MTÜ.
The 15,000 guest nights registered that weekend were 11% higher than a year ago.
