Another Hungarian police unit is going to North Macedonia for the purpose of border protection – the communication service of the National Police Headquarters (ORFK) announced on its police.hu website on Tuesday.
According to the announcement, Hungarian police is committed to preventing illegal immigrants from entering Hungary and the European Union. Therefore, in addition to the tasks performed in Hungary, the organization offered his support to the Western Balkan countries.
Colonel László Balázs, head of the border police department at ORFK, bid farewell to the members of the Hungarian police contingent leaving for North Macedonia on Tuesday in Budapest, at the central facility of the Rapid Response and Special Police Service.
The main task of Hungarian police officers is patrolling in order to prevent illegal border crossings, as well as helping to produce people smugglers and illegal immigrants. They will not only serve in the immediate vicinity of the border, but also on the roads located inside the country.
The all-terrain contingent supports the protection of the border section with service vehicles, hand-held night vision devices, hand-held thermal cameras and a mobile thermal camera.
Hungarian police officers serving in the 30-member North Macedonian contingent perform their duties with their own service equipment and exercise their authority to take action under the control and supervision of the host country's law enforcement agency, the statement reads.
