The four new boats of Balatoni Hajózási Zrt. (Bahart Plc.) received prestigious international recognition just a few months after they were put in operation.
The new boats won the world's most prestigious design award, the RED DOT Design Award, as well as the renowned international iF Design Award. The former can be won by excellence in industrial design. Bahart's boats were awarded in the product design category.
According to the announcement issued by the company, the iF Design award, founded in 1953, is also one of the most important design recognitions globally, with which outstanding quality and innovation are valued. The works of the winners will be presented in the iF World Design Guide and also at the iF Design exhibitions, they added.
According to Bahart's information, both of Bahart's two new catamarans and two new ferries were awarded for passenger comfort, large capacity, sustainability, safe operation, and fuel efficiency. The modern appearance and functionality of the boats also contributed greatly to winning the award.
Bahart emphasizes: thanks to the new ferries and catamarans, the schedule on Lake Balaton has become denser, and the program selection has expanded. The lake's environmental load has also been reduced, as the boats have low-emission engines that meet the latest emission standards.
Bahart, which is majority owned by the state, currently has a fleet of six ferries, 14 passenger boats and six nostalgia boats.
