Thousands of cyclists gathered on Saturday afternoon in front of the Városháza Park (City Hall Park) in the downtown area of the Hungarian capital to participate in the 10th I Bike Budapest parade. The aim of the event was to raise awareness of the state of cycling in Budapest and to demonstrate for a better and safer city to cycle around.
From Városháza Park, the peloton cycled to Buda via the Chain Bridge, then back to Pest via Elisabeth Bridge, then along Andrássy Avenue to Heroes' Square near the City Park, and from there, across the Árpád Bridge to Margaret Island on the Danube.
The weather was kind to the event, with participants enjoying cloudless weather and temperatures over 20 degrees Centigrade.
The parade ended at Nagyrét on Margaret Island, where the iconic bike lift took place as the marchers raised their bikes to the sky.
