BMW is to build the largest solar power plant in Hungary and the largest of its group in Debrecen (E Hungary). It will occupy an area of 71 soccer fields, will be the largest within the group and will also be Hungary's largest industrial solar power plant, the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó announced on Tuesday at the groundbreaking ceremony.
"And as far as I understand it, E.ON has never built a solar farm as big as the one we are building here. The collaboration between two German companies and Debrecen, Hungary, is once again producing an achievement that can rightfully claim a place in next year's edition of the Guinness Book of World Records," he said.
He was of the view that Hungary has become the absolute global leader of the green economy of the future, which he said rests on two main pillars: the electrification of transport and the decarbonization of energy production.
