Outdoor sporting and cultural events, restaurants and hotels to reopen across Hungary this week.
At today’s Operational Group press conference, Róbert Kiss, Lieutenant Colonel of the Hungarian Police Force, announced that a new phase of protection measures will enter into force in Budapest tomorrow. “This means, people can consume food and drink inside restaurants and hotels can reopen,” he said.
Outdoor sporting and cultural events can also be held, and outdoor exhibitions in national parks can be visited. “The safety distance must be kept everywhere,” he said. Kiss also drew attention to the fact that it is still forbidden to take part in or organize music or dance events in indoor venues.
Restaurants in Budapest will be allowed to open indoor areas from tomorrow after they were forced to close due to the novel coronavirus epidemic. Starting on May 29, restaurants, cafes, bakeries and buffets will be allowed to serve food and drinks indoors.
The same rules will apply to catering establishments operated by hotels. Employees will still be expected to wear face masks and the same physical distancing rules will apply as they do outside Budapest.
