By Sunday, another 3,149 Hungarian citizens had been diagnosed with a coronavirus infection, according to data published on the government information page. It is a new daily record.
This brings the number of active infections to a record of 41,580. 35 people died in the past 24 hours due to the COVID-19 pandemic and thus, the total number of victims rose to 1,425. There are currently 2,449 patients hospitalized with the new coronavirus infection, 221 of whom are on ventilators.
Like the whole of Europe, Hungary is in a steep phase of the coronavirus epidemic. The number of infections is growing dynamically in the countries around and in Hungary as well. Therefore, in the future, six more rural hospitals will be ordered to receive new coronavirus patients outside Budapest. These institutions need to be prepared to care for COVID-19 patients on 20% of their total number of publicly funded beds.
