Thirty-seven patients died of illness related to the new coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours, while 4,041 new coronavirus infections were registered, koronavirus.gov.hu said on Friday.
On Thursday, almost the same number of new cases (4039) were reported, with 45 deaths. The number of infected people was last at this level in mid-April.
According to Friday's figures, the hospital has 2,130 patients with coronavirus, 230 of whom are on ventilators. On Thursday, 1,970 patients in hospital and 204 on ventilators were reported, meaning their numbers have also increased since then.
The number of new cases registered daily in Hungary has increased dramatically in recent days. For example, only 2,548 new cases were registered a week ago, compared to 1249 two weeks ago.
Since the first outbreak, 863,419 infections have been registered, while fatalities have risen to 30,729. Fully 797,910 people have made a recovery.
