In the past three days, another 489 patients have died with symptoms of COVID-19, according to the official government website koronavirus.gov.hu. Compared to a week ago, the number of deaths has increased slightly, with 460 deaths in those three days. The total number of deaths related to the new coronavirus infection in Hungary is now 35,611.
A total of 22,699 new infections were confirmed on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This is a drop of nearly 20% from the figure released last Monday. The number of active infected has risen to 189,753.
7,440 patients with the coronavirus are in hospital, 23 fewer than the figure published this past Friday. 586 of them are on ventilators twenty fewer that reported on Friday.
According to official figures, there are currently 50,360 patients waiting for some kind of surgical intervention in hospitals in Hungary. This summer, 35,000 people were on the waiting list for surgery, with the fourth wave of the pandemic further increasing waiting lists.
