COVID-19: Daily Death Toll Exceeds 100 in Hungary

According to figures published by the Hungarian government, 103 COVID-19 patients died in the past 24 hours – more than ever in one day –, bringing the number of new coronavirus related deaths to 2,250.

The new coronavirus infection was detected in another 4,709 Hungarians, thus increasing the number of identified infections in Hungary to 99,625. The number of active infections is 74,162 and 23,213 have already recovered.

There are 5,489 patients with coronavirus hospitalized, 391 of whom are on ventilators, the official website for coronavirus data reported on Friday. 20,025 tests were performed, of which 23.5% were positive.

In his usual Friday morning radio appearance, PM Viktor Orbán said that inspections are ongoing across the country, and everything will be shut down if the new coronavirus rules are not followed. He was of the view that there is light at the end of the tunnel, as a vaccine may be available in Hungary in 90 days.
