14,890 new infections have been confirmed, bringing the total number of identified infections to 1,369,974 since the beginning of the epidemic, the government information portal said.
Since the beginning of the epidemic, there have never been so many new infections in one day in Hungary, only Monday's data releases included more new cases than this, when three days of data are reported together. More than half of the tests carried out were positive.
The death toll rose to 40,686 with 85 mostly elderly, chronic patients. The number of recovered cases increased to 1,181,715 and the number of active infected cases to 147,573.
2,645 patients with coronavirus are hospitalized, 208 of them are on ventilators, both down from a day earlier.
The number of people vaccinated is 6,322,905, of whom 6,066,056 have already had their second vaccination and 3,430,445 have had their confirmatory third vaccination.
