COVID-19: New Record High Daily Infection Rate

163, mostly elderly, chronic patients died, and another 9,444 Hungarian citizens were diagnosed with the new coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours.

The related government website koronavirus.gov.hu highlighted on Saturday that 1,293,414 people have been vaccinated in Hungary so far, 377,343 of them have already received the second vaccination.

The government portal wrote that the number of infected people in Hungary had increased to 507,627. The official number of deceased rose to 16,790 and the number of those recovered to 349,530.
The number of active infections increased to 141,307. 8,897 coronavirus patients are cared for in hospital, 989 of whom are on ventilators.
There are 46,249 people in official home quarantine, and the number of samples has increased to 4,034,635.
According to the site, "the third wave of the coronavirus epidemic across Europe is proving stronger than ever," the number of patients is drastically increasing, which is why the government has decided to tighten the restrictions that have already come into force.

Under the additional protection measures for the two weeks ending March 22, stores will have to be closed with the exception of grocery stores, pharmacies, petrol stations, drugstores, tobacco shops, shops selling materials and equipment essential for economic, agricultural and forestry activities, as well as shops selling pet food, feed, markets and producer markets.
All services are suspended, except for private health, social, financial, postal, vehicle service services. Takeaway shopping will still be available at restaurants.
