105 patients have died in the last 24 hours, bringing the official total number of deaths in this country to 41,741, according to the relevant government website.
Also in the last 24 hours, 16,435 new infections have been confirmed. That's down 8% from a week ago. It looks very much like Hungary is past the peak of the fifth wave, at least in terms of new infections. That brings the total number of identified infected since the start of the outbreak to 1,616,846.
There is also an increase in the number of hospitalized and deceased patients. This tends to follow the trend of new infections with a delay of a few weeks. In other words, it should take a week or two before we see a reduction in the number of hospitalized, the news site 24.hu notes
The number of active infections is 227,407. 4,588 patients with coronavirus are hospitalized, up 32% from a week ago and up 3% from yesterday.
Of those, 168 are on ventilators. That is 13% more than a week ago and 3% more than yesterday.
