COVID-19: Fewer Hospitalized, More Fatalities

6,286 new infections have been confirmed in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of identified infections to 1,769,164 since the beginning of the epidemic, the government information portal reports. The 132 deaths, mostly of elderly, chronic patients, bring the official total number fatalities relkated to the new coronavirus infection to 43,562.

The daily number of patients who have died from the coronavirus has been over 130 for the second day now, the last time more people died on a single day in this country was at the end of December.

The number of recovered persons is now 1,546,872, while the number of active infected persons has decreased to 178,730.

4,463 patients with coronavirus are hospitalized, down 277 from a day earlier. Of these, 170 are on ventilators, seven fewer than a day earlier.

The number of vaccinated persons is 6,390,100, of whom 6,159,543 are on their second vaccination and 3,794,636 are on their third.
