COVID-19: Growing Number of New Infections in Hungary

3,360 new infections have been confirmed, bringing the total number of identified cases to 1,256,415 since the beginning of the epidemic. The death toll has risen to 39,186, with 82 people, mostly elderly, chronic patients, according to Friday's announcement on the government site koronavirus.gov.hu.

According to the portal, the number of cured patients is steadily increasing, currently standing at 1,111,676, and the number of active infected has decreased to 105,553. 3,492 patients with coronavirus are in hospital, 334 of whom are on ventilators.

The omicron virus variant is also spreading in Hungary, so unvaccinated people are still being asked to be vaccinated and those vaccinated more than four months ago are being asked to be confirmed.

They added that vaccination is also available during the holidays by appointment. The online booking for the confirmatory third vaccination for 12-17 year olds is now open.
