COVID-19: Higher and Higher New Infection Numbers

The highest number of new infections in a single day since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic have been recorded in Hungary, with data from the last three days showing a steadily increasing number of new infections.

This brings the total number of identified infected people since the beginning of the epidemic to 1,401,457, according to koronavirus.gov.hu.

The highest number of infections before this week was on November 24 in the fourth wave of the epidemic. Then, 12,637 infections were recorded.

In the past 24 hours, 65 mostly elderly, chronic patients died, bringing the total number of deaths to 40,822.

The number of those cured has now risen to 1 193 210 and the number of active infections to 167 425.

2,674 patients with coronavirus are in hospital, 201 of whom are on ventilators.

The total number of vaccinated is 6,329,185, of whom 6,073,498 have already received the second vaccination and 3,457,497 have already received the confirmatory third vaccination.
