The number of people actively infected with the new coronavirus in Hungary has fallen by more than 8,000, and the number of hospitalized people by 79 over the long week-end. The number of fatalities went up by 178 to a total close to 45,000.
Since last Friday, 4,902 people have been diagnosed with the new coronavirus (an average of 980 per day), bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 1,819,264 since the beginning of the outbreak in this country, according to the related government website koronavirus.gov.hu.
In the last five days, 178 patients have died, bringing the official total number of deaths in the epidemic to 44,831.
The number of people recovering is steadily increasing, currently 1,663,907, while the number of active infected has decreased by 8,540 in five days, to 110,526.
There are currently 2,259 patients with coronavirus in hospital (79 fewer than reported on Friday), of whom 101 (down 8 from last reporting) are on ventilators.
At least one vaccine has been administered to 6,399,413 people so far (+798 since the last release), of whom 6,180,406 have received the second dose (+1,768), 3,829,875 the third (+3,035) and 236,168 the fourth (+3,477).
Since Friday, 40,526 coronavirus tests have been completed – a total of 10,962,084 so far - of which 12.1% have tested positive. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), a country carries out enough tests to have a true picture of the spread of the epidemic if the positivity rate is less than 5%.
