With the exception of the number of new infections, all indicators of the new coronavirus epidemic have improved in Hungary in the past week, according to the related government website koronavirus.gov.hu.
42 victims of the coronavirus have been reported in the past week, bringing the official total number of Hungarians who have died in the epidemic to 48,287.
The last time there were so few deaths in one week was in mid-September. At the same time, 4,259 new cases were diagnosed, a slight increase compared to last week. It is a good sign, however, that the concentration of the coronavirus in wastewater has continued to fall, the report says.
Hospital indicators are improving, with 336 patients with coronavirus in hospital, 424 fewer than a week ago. Of these, seven are on ventilators, four fewer than last week. Meanwhile, 6,118 people were classified as recovered, bringing the active caseload down by 1,901 to 13,707.
The vaccination program has progressed better for those who received their fourth dose, with 5,279 people receiving their fourth dose last week, bringing the total to 393,151. For the rest, there has been slower growth in this respect with 206 people receiving their first vaccination last week, 177 receiving their second and 453 receiving their third. That leaves 6.42 million people who received one vaccination, 6.2 million who received two – meaning there are 214,000 people who received their first vaccination and then didn't apply for the second – and 3.9 million people who received their third vaccination.
