COVID-19: No. of Active Infections Over 14,000

In the past week, a total of 5,170 new infections were confirmed (about the same as last week when 5,193 were reported), bringing the total number of identified infected people in Hungary since the beginning of the epidemic to 2,181,419, according to the government information portal.

59 people were reported to have died over the past week (up from 43 deaths reported the previous week). Most of the were elderly and chronically ill, bringing the official total number of fatalities in this country to 48,439.

The number of people recovered is now 2,118,911 while the number of active infected has increased to 14,069 from 13,735 of the previous week.

There are currently 1,044 patients with coronavirus in hospital (up from 1,124 last week), 16 of whom are on ventilators (up from 24 last week).

The total number of vaccinated persons is 6,420,700, of whom 6,207,033 are on their second, 3,903 453 on their third and 410,699 on their fourth vaccination.
