COVID-19: Official Hungarian Death Toll Exceeds 16,000

158 elderly and chronic patients have died in Hungary in the past 24 hours, bringing the official number of fatalities related to the new coronavirus infection in this country to 16,146.

6,494 new coronavirus infection cases were found, which has increased the number of identified infected people to a total of 475,207 since the beginning of the epidemic, the government website koronavirus.gov.hu writes.

It adds that Hungary is in the ascending branch of the third wave of the epidemic, with an increasing number of active infections and hospital patients.

The number of recovered people is currently 338,946, but the that of active infected people has already risen to 120,115.

8,270 patients with coronavirus are being hospitalized, 833 of whom are on ventilators.
