COVID-19: Over 11,000 Patients Hospitalized in Hungary

More than a thousand people were taken to hospital last weekend due to the new coronavirus infection and now, 11,276 coronavirus patients are being hospitalized.

This number shows a significant increase – this time more than 600 patients were hospitalized in one day after the previous increase of 2-300 people.

Of those hospitalized, 1,340 are on a ventilator. That number also jumped high as another 67 patients were connected to ventilator in the past 24 hours.

Another 9,046 new coronavirus infections have been registered in the apst 24 hours, increasing the number of identified infected people to a total of 580,642 since the beginning of the epidemic, according to the government website koronavirus.gov.hu.

The majority of the 189 deaths on Sunday were elderly, chronic patients, and the official number of deaths rose to 18,451.

According to world statistics, Hungary is the country with the highest number of COVIS-19 fatalities per population.

So far, 1,589,601 people have been vaccinated, of which 479,389 have already received their secondjab.
