The new coronavirus infection was detected in 1,279 new cases by Wednesday, increasing the number of identified infections in Hungary to 380,013.
98 patients died in the past 24 hours, bringing the official number of deaths to 13,347. The number of people recovered is currently 285,022, and the number of active people has been reduced to 81,644.
3,747 coronavirus patients are cared for in hospital, 296 of them are on ventilators, and 16,822 tests have been performed in the past 24 hours. So far, 292,627 people have been vaccinated, of which 113,570 have already received their second vaccination, acording to the related government website.
The first two phases of the vaccination have been completed: the campaign-like vaccination of health care workers and nursing homes and residential social institutions has already taken place. Vaccination of the oldest registered for vaccination started last week and will continue on Thursday, the necessary Pfizer vaccines will now be given to GPs, and the Russian Sputnik V, still without EU license, will also be used at four hospital vaccination points in Budapest. GPs will also start vaccinating chronic patients under the age of 60 from Wednesday, and the necessary AstraZeneca vaccine has already been delivered.
The previous day, 94 new deaths and 1,079 new infections were registered.
