COVID-19: Over 44,000 Fatalities in Hungary

In the past 24 hours, 102 patients have died, bringing the total number of deaths from the new coronavirus infection in Hungary to over 44,000.

In the last 24 hours, 2,037 new infections have been confirmed, bringing the total number of identified infected people to 1,789,581 since the start of the outbreak, according to the related government website.

The fifth wave is clearly on the descending branch in Hungary. The number of new infections now reported is only two-thirds of the number reported a week ago.

The number of active infections has fallen to 150,522.

There are 3,610 patients with coronavirus in hospital, roughly 25% below the level of a week ago.

Of these, 136 are on ventilators. That's down 20 percent from a week ago, but up a few from yesterday's report.

The total number of people vaccinated is 6,394,782, of which 6,169,995 are on their second vaccination and 3,810,898 are on their third jab.
