COVID-19: Pandemic Numbers Improving in Hungary

29, mostly elderly, chronic patients died last week (down from 51 in the previous week), bringing the official total number of deaths in this country to 48,658. The number of recovered cases is slightly down (2,137,305) while the number of active infected has fallen to 5,864.

There are currently 472 patients with the new coronavirus infection in hospital in Hungary, 11 of whom are on ventilators, the government's Coronavirus Press Center said on Wednesday.

627 new infections were confirmed in the past week, bringing the total number of identified infections to 2,191,827 since the start of the outbreak.

The number of people vaccinated against the coronavirus in Hungary is 6,421, 335, of whom 6,207,880 received their second, 3,904,413 their third and 420,687 their fourth vaccination.

According to the statement, the epidemic in Hungary is currently "at a moderate level," thanks in part to the high vaccination rate. It was stressed that unvaccinated people remain the most at risk and are therefore still encouraged to get vaccinated.
