Spanish opera singer Plácido Domingo gave a free concert in Győr, NW Hungary with the local Philharmonic Orchestra in honor of health workers this Friday evening.
According to the organisers, the world-famous Plácido Domingo has long shown a strong affinity for Hungarian music and culture, coupled with a willingness to give to those who have stood up for themselves in extraordinary circumstances.
Earlier, Plácido Domingo recalled that the epidemic had affected him and his family, and he felt an even greater personal gratitude towards the health workers. The Győr concert program included popular opera arias, operettas and zarzuelas. Performers included soprano Adela Zaharia, the 2017 winner of the Operalia opera competition, founded by Plácido Domingo, as well as Plácido Domingo Jr. and the winner of the latest edition of the Virtuosos classical music talent show, pianist Soma Balázs-Piri. The Győr Philharmonic Orchestra was conducted by Eugene Kohn at Dunakapu Square in Győr.
