Museum sustainability is at the heart of the 17th Fall Festival of Museums, which will bring together almost 40 museums in the capital and 80 in the countryside to offer more than 500 programs to visitors across the country over a month and a half from Tuesday.
The festival is organized by the Szentendre-based Open-Air Ethnographic Museum – Museum Education and Methodology Center (MOKK), which launched the series of events on Tuesday with the National Museum Education Year Opening Ceremony, a professional conference of the Hungarian museum scene.
As the organizers stressed, the main theme of this year's Fall Festival of Museums is sustainability. Its aim is to highlight the role of museums in the natural, spiritual and social spheres, to clarify the concept of sustainability among both the public and museum professionals, and to raise awareness of the activities of museums in this field.
During the opening week of the event (October 3-9), which runs until November 13, free programs will be organized throughout the country to celebrate the Fall Festival of Museums.
During the first week of the Festival, from Tuesday to Sunday, the museums offer an interesting and free program of events for every day of the year across the country. For city walkers, hikers and literature lovers, there is something for everyone this week.
