April 22, 2020

The Hungarian government increased its support for the construction of the Bozsik Stadium in Budapest’s District 19 by more than HUF one billion and provided more than HUF 450 million for the preparation of three projects of the Budapest Honvéd Sports Club for which the new stadium will be built, the news site reports.

The first of the resolutions, signed by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and published in the official Hungarian Gazette this week, deals with the construction of a new Bozsik Stadium to be implemented within the framework of the National Stadium Development Program. This was decided by the government in 2014, and in 2018 it was provided with HUF 9 billion 350 million, which has now been increased raised to HUF 10 billion 520 million (which is currently cca EUR 30 million).

The other decision deals with the sports facility development program for the years 2020-2023 of the Budapest Honvéd Sports Club 2020-2023. For the preparation of these, it defines support in two parts: (1) HUF 306 million will be paid for the preparation of the development of a 50-meter swimming pool combined with a shooting range at the club’s property on Dózsa György Rd in Budapest, as well as for the expansion and renovation of the kayak-canoe site located on the Shipyard Island on the River Danube; and (2) the government approved a grant of HUF 145 million for the preparation of the development of a multi functional sports hall at the same property.
