Hungarian Named as European Marketer of the Year

Zsófia Bánhegyi, Vice President for Corporate Relations of the Hungarian Marketing Association (MMSZ), has been named as the top European marketing professional of the year, MMSZ announced on Friday.

The European Marketing Confederation (EMC), the member organizations of the European Marketing Confederation (EMC), including MMSZ, nominated national candidates for the Marketer of the Year competition across Europe, from whom eight finalists were selected by the jury during individual interviews.

The Hungarian candidate, Zsófia Bánhegyi, came out on top, followed by Rafael Fernandez (Telefónica S.A.) from Spain and Guiseppe Fiordispina (SEAT Deutschland GmbH) from Germany.

The press release quoted Zsófia Bánhegyi as saying that she was extremely honored to receive the award in Dublin, which recognizes the work of marketing executives at European level.

"It was a special pleasure for me to represent Hungary in winning the award for the most influential professional on the continent, thus proving on an international level that the Hungarian profession is at the forefront and is making progress, (...) and that "I can also represent women professionals and managers with this award, I consider it important that their role is further strengthened in the European and Hungarian economic sphere," she added.

Zsófia Bánhegyi graduated from the Budapest University of Economics and the London School of Economics, and continued her postgraduate studies at the ELTE Faculty of Law and Political Sciences.

For the last almost 15 years, she has been working mainly in the telecommunications and gaming industry in marketing and commercial management positions at Magyar Telekom Group and the national lottery company Szerencsejáték Plc. Currently, as Vice President of the Hungarian Marketing Association, she is involved in strengthening cohesion and cooperation in the marketing sector.

Every year, the EMC organizes the European Marketer of the Year contest, which celebrates the best of the European marketing profession and their significant contribution to their companies, the European economy and society.
