The Hungarian tinsmith team has won a silver medal at the 28th World Championship of Young Roofers in Switzerland, the Hungarian Association of Building Insulators, Roofers, Tinsmiths and Carpenters (ÉMSZ) told the state news agency MTI.
The Hungarian team of Norbert Vlkovszky and András Márk finished second, ahead of the German team. The world championship title was won by the hosts. ÉMSZ also entered a roofing and insulation team in the competition, both of which finished fourth.
The three-day competition attracted 25 teams. During the preparation period, the teams had 10-12 hours of practice per day, but at the competition, the competitors were given only eight hours to solve more complex and difficult tasks than ever before. For example, in the insulation competition, the use of power tools was not allowed, only traditional tools.
According to the press release, the work of the Hungarian competitors was also appreciated by other competitors. Their performance also deserves recognition because, in their experience, they are much more highly regarded than their strongest competitors in Austria, Germany and Switzerland.
