Hungary is free of avian influenza once again, and there is no obligation to keep poultry indoors, the National Food Chain Safety Office (NÉBIH) said on its website on Thursday.

According to the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH), Hungary has regained its freedom from avian influenza, the statement is quoted by the state news agency MTI.

The favorable classification applies retroactively from July 27, Lajos Bognár, the national chief veterinarian, informed the authorities of the partner countries in order to lift the import restrictions

According to NÉBIH, the national veterinary chief has also withdrawn his regulation on the confinement of poultry, but the observance of preventive measures, feeding and watering indoors will remain mandatory throughout the country.
