Following a drone attack on their Ukrainian system control center in mid-October, Ukrainian transmission operators have requested assistance to restore their damaged IT infrastructure through ENTSO-E, the European network of system operators for telecommunications. “In immediate response to the request received at the end of October, we offered servers and data storage devices to Ukrenergo through ENTSO-E's Ukraine Support Task Force, which was set up to assist in this situation,” the Hungarian Independent Transmission Operator MAVIR said in a statement on Thursday.

As a result of a nearly three-month process of licensing, administration and coordination, the assets have been shipped to Ukraine with the assistance of the European Energy Community and the Ukrainian Embassy staff and will be used by MAVIR’s system operator partner and the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy.

In the statement, MAVIR thanked “all colleagues who, from responding quickly to the needs that arose, through the permitting and contracting process, to the assembly and delivery of the equipment, have helped to ensure that our donation is up and running soon and will help our Ukrainian colleagues to repair damaged energy infrastructure and ensure energy supplies.”
