Life-saving diving equipment essential for underwater operations has been provided to the Életjel Rescue Team thanks to the support of Provident Pénzügyi Plc.
In May, the financial service provider gave the organization a grant of HUF 1 million, which was used to purchase a piece of equipment for underwater communication and four so-called Wings, which are used to facilitate underwater movement.
"At Provident, we value life-saving, which is why we chose the Életjel Rescue Team when we decided to make the grant. Life is a priceless asset, which is why we prioritize our staff within the organization who have saved lives in the course of their work or in their everyday lives. We are pleased to see that the support we have offered has been put to good use, and it is reassuring to know that the organization can be more effective in underwater rescues thanks to the new equipment. Nevertheless, we are confident that the use of the equipment will not be necessary in a live operation," Márta Pálfalvi, Director of Corporate Relations and Communications at Provident Financial Plc. said.
The newly acquired equipment can be used by the Életjel Rescue Team especially during underwater rescues. The devices, called Wing, are used by divers to control underwater floating and diving. This allows them to move up and down in the water with ease, as well as float stably at the desired depth – essential for underwater rescue. The underwater communication tool allows the rescue team to work together more effectively.
"It is very uplifting that some people think we deserve their support. By having this equipment, we can do our job in a much more professional and relaxed way, and the diver feels safer because there is a constant contact with the shore. Saving a life saves the world!” László Turi, President and Commander of the Életjel Rescue Team pointed out. He added that "there are thousands of earthquakes every year, but the ones that require intervention are one or two every 4-5 years. We are usually there for those."
