Eight aid organizations invited the most renowned artists of the Hungarian music scene to perform a joint charity concert to promote peace and love. At Sunday evening's concert at the Papp László Budapest Sport Arena, the performers were accompanied by the Danubia Orchestra and young Russian and Ukrainian musicians studying in Hungary.
People in Hungary moved in an unprecedented way to help people from Ukraine. Since the end of February, tens of thousands of volunteers and supporters, coordinated by NGOs, have been working around the clock to ensure that families displaced by the war are properly cared for. Unfortunately, their work is still needed and will continue to be needed, but volunteers deserve a break, too, and should be given the opportunity to pause for a moment and feel the enormous strength that their community has given to those in need at an event to welcome them.
Volunteers from the eight aid agencies were able to see the performance free of charge, but anyone could attend the special concert by purchasing a supporter ticket.
All the proceeds from the charity concert will go to support the development of children's homes in Rát and Szolyva in Transcarpathia. They will help to create sections that will provide a new home for children who have been traumatized by war and have lost their parents.
