As part of the 16th Jewish Summer Festival, the Embassy of the State of Israel brought a unique experience to one of the most beautiful and colorful places in Budapest, the Central Market Hall. The Israeli Shuk in Budapest lasts 3 days: August 29-31.
The Shuk is the traditional Israeli market, where visitors can see, feel and touch a unique blend of flavors, fragrances, and senses that Israel and its culture are about. At the opening event of the Israeli in Budapest, the Embassy of the State of Israel also presented the biggest hummus plate in Hungary.
Hummus is the ‘national food symbol’ of Israel, and an important part of everyday meals. The plate prepared at this ‘mini Israel’ event in Budapest was more than 50 kilograms of hummus, which is more than 400 normal hummus plates, and was served on a 2,5-meter-long plate, specially made for this event.
You can taste many hummus variations in Israel. The secret of its popularity is that it is well-combined with meat and dairy products. At the Shuk, visitors can enjoy Israeli products and taste a variety of foods.
Its opening was attended by the Israeli Ambassador to Hungary, Ilan Mor, Budapest Deputy Mayor Miklós Csomós as well as other personalities.
