As part of the European Sports Week #BEACTIVE campaign and the 150 Years of Budapest program, the 18th edition of the NATO Run will take place this Sunday, with participants running through the most beautiful parts of Buda.
According to the Budapest Athletics Association, the 10-kilometer NATO Run will start at 11 a.m. from Vérmező, where the Memorial Relay first started in 1924 to commemorate the martyrs of Arad.
The historic relay race will take place from 12.40 p.m. and will be open to teams of 13 participants from primary and secondary schools. The 13 teams, the 13 relay stations and the 13 gallops will commemorate the heroes of the 1848-49 Revolution and War of Independence, whose names are also remembered at each relay station.
A few minutes later, the four-kilometer long castle run will begin, as well as a NATO exhibition, a Hungarian Defence Forces recruiting demonstration, an artillery demonstration and a health screening program will await those interested.
