New Coronavirus Death toll Exceeds 700 in Hungary

Another eight Hungarians - all of them with chronic diseases -fell victim to the COVID-19 epidemic, according to the pandemic website of the Hungarian government. Thus, the death toll increased to 702.

The number of confirmed people infected with the new coronavirus in Hungary now stands at 20,450. There are 27,449 people in compulsory home quarantine with 4,644 recovered.

The total number of active COVID-19 cases is 15,104. Official results show that 39% of those infected, 56% of the deceased, and 40% of those recovered live in Budapest. There are currently 558 patients hospitalized with the new coronavirus, 35 of whom are on ventilators.

The mandatory quarantine for travelers entering Hungary from abroad has been lowered from 14 to 10 days.
