May 6, 2025

The largest noise protection program, launched by the For the Neighbors of Budapest Airport Foundation in 2022 with the involvement of 4,000 properties in total, is continuing with the inclusion of additional areas of Districts 10 and 18 in Budapest and Üllő, according to a statement by Budapest Airport, the operator of the Ferenc Liszt International Airport of the Hungarian capital.

To tailor the program to the needs of residents in included neighborhoods, Budapest Airport, part of the VINCI Airports network, has formulated the program in consultation with the mayors of the related districts and settlements. Property owners can apply in the current phase until September 5, 2025.

Applications can already be submitted for the fifth phase of the noise protection program initiated by the For the Neighbors of Budapest Airport Foundation. Property owners in the defined areas can apply for the retrofit insulation or replacement of doors and windows in their living and resting rooms and the installation of ventilators in bedrooms.

The noise protection program is implemented in phases over three years, to reduce noise burdens for people living in the vicinity the airport. The number of applicants so far has reached 1,200 property owners.

The For the Neighbors of Budapest Airport Foundation will send a letter in May to the owners of residential properties involved in the latest, fifth phase of the program, informing them about the details of the scheme and the application procedure. The scheme is open to all property owners who own a residential property in the designated area and meet the eligibility criteria.

Budapest Airport, part of the VINCI Airports network, and the For the Neighbors of Budapest Airport Foundation pay special attention to the quality of life of local residents and consider it important that the airport should develop together with the surrounding settlements and districts. In addition to providing support, the company operates a noise monitoring system accessible to all, and has increased the charge payable by airlines operating during the period of deep sleep.
