Another six people died of the Covid-19 pandemic in Hungary in the past 24 hours – all of them elderly with chronic diseases –, raising the official number of deceased in the current pandemic to 505 in this country.
The confirmed number of people infected with the coronavirus now stands at 3,793 (1,432 of them actively infected). There are 11,616 people in compulsory home quarantine and 1,856 recovered. The official number of samples tested in an accredited laboratory in the country of 9.8 million people is 160,960. The actual number of people tested has not been disclosed.
During today’s Operational Group press conference, Chief Medical Officer Cecília Müller was of the view that in comparison to the rest of Europe, Hungary’s figure of 39 confirmed coronavirus cases per 100,000 inhabitants is promising.
Responding to the World Health Organization’s concerns regarding potential delays in infant vaccination due to the coronavirus pandemic, Müller said that there is no such delay in Hungary and all children have been properly vaccinated. She added that there are several research groups in Hungary that are looking for preventive methods to counter the spread of the virus.
