By Tuesday, the new coronavirus had been detected in 1,985 people, bringing the total number of people infected with the virus in Hungary to 1,230,385, according to official figures. 132 coronavirus patients have died and thus, the death toll of the epidemic has risen to 38.028.
Tuesday is typically a lower day of the week than other days of the week, due to the specific nature of the data reporting. Last Tuesday, 3575 new cases and 195 deaths were reported, the news site hvg.hu notes.
The number of active infected has decreased by 3,802 to 138,069. The number of those declared cured is 1,054,288 (+5,655).
There are 5,527 patients with coronavirus requiring hospitalization, ten fewer than the previous day. Invasive ventilation is needed for 501 of them. The previous day, 503 patients were reported to have been ventilated.
On the previous day, 7,428 coronavirus tests were carried out – 9,021,858 in total – of which 26.72% were positive. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), a country tests enough to have a true picture of the spread of the epidemic if the positivity rate is less than 5%.
According to Monday's lab data, 15 samples have already been detected for the omicron variant and more suspect samples are being tested.
At least one vaccine has been administered to 6,232,575 people so far, 6,176 this Monday. So far, 5,945,349 people have requested a second dose of the vaccine (+8,044) and 3,114,011 (+9,817) have requested a third dose.
