By Sunday, 205 people, mostly elderly and chronically ill, had died, bringing the total number of Hungarian deaths related to the new coronavirus infection to 25,184. On Saturday, the youngest victim was a 37-year-old woman with no known underlying illness.
3,706 new infections were reported in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of identified infections to 750,508 since the start of the outbreak, according to the government website coronavirus.gov.hu.
The current number of recovered persons is 455,029 and that of active infected people is 270,295. 8,445 patients with coronavirus are hospitalised, 500 fewer than the number reported on Saturday. 1051 people are on ventilators, 42 fewer than a day earlier.
The number of vaccinated persons is 3 252 579, of whom 1 385 898 have already received their second jab.
On Monday April 19, kindergartens will reopen and primary schools (grades 1-4) will return to normal classroom learning. Upper elementary and secondary schools will return to classroom education from May 10. In adult education, attendance teaching and examinations will also be possible again from April 19, according to information available from the government as of this Sunday.
