Number of New Coronavirus Infections on the Rise Again

The new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) was detected in another 2,853 new Hungarian citizens in the apst 24 hours. There have not been so many new infections a day since January 7.

This increased the number of infected people identified in Hungary to 394,023, koronavirus.gov.hu said Thursday morning. The number of deaths related to the new coronavirus infection is over 100 again: the majority of the 104 deceased were elderly, chronic patients, bringing the number of deaths to 14,035.

The number of people recovered was 301,363, and the number of active infected people was 78,625. 4,021 coronavirus patients are hospitalized, 332 of whom are on ventilators.

Chief medical officer Cecília Müller says Hungary is in the third wave of the pandemic.
