Number of Newly Infected Still Growing in Hungary

In the last 24 hours, a total of 17,869 new cases of the disease have been confirmed, according to the relevant the government website. This is 12% higher than reported last Friday, meaning that although the infection is still running rampant, the pace is slowing.

The number of active infected persons has increased to 225,801. In comparison, the sewage data reported this week predict a further acceleration.

More than one-third of the tests performed were positive. This brings the total number of identified infected people since the start of the outbreak to 1,508,358.

78 patients have died, bringing the total number of deaths to 41,229.

3,463 patients with coronavirus are in hospital. This is 30% more than a week ago and 6% more than the previous day. 145 of them are on ventilators.
