A plant built with state subsidy by the pharma company Meditop in Pilisborosjenő, NW of Budapest, was inaugurated this Thursday, It will be here that preparations used to treat coronavirus patients are manufactured and developed.
During the inauguration ceremony, Minister of Finance Mihály Varga was of the view that thanks to the Health Support Program, Hungary has become self-sufficient in the production of medical masks, hospital rubber gloves, and now the country has been able to reduce its vulnerability to anti-virus drugs.
Meditop developed its plant in Pilisborosjenő for more than HUF 1.6 billion – with HUF 1.5 billion of state support. Thanks to the investment, the company retained 230 jobs and created 10 new ones. The Meditop plant produces favipiravir tablets, among others, and the company has produced 5 million pills in the last three months.
