China is willing to cooperate with Hungary in promoting exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, safeguarding equality among civilizations, facilitating exchanges among civilizations, and promoting development among civilizations. That was emphasized by the Chinese ambassador to Hungary, Gong Tao at a recent press meeting in Budapest.

Commenting further on bilateral relations, the ambassador pointed out that Chinese electric vehicles offer a diverse selection to global consumers, including those in Hungary. Popular Chinese electric car brands from around the world, such as BYD, NIO and Leapmotor, have entered the Hungarian market, providing further benefits to consumers. At the same time, they have promoted technological innovation and the transformation and modernization of the Hungarian automotive industry and related supply chains.  He was of the view that Chinese-Hungarian cooperation in the electric vehicle industry had become a model of mutually beneficial cooperation in the Chinese-European automotive industry chain.

As for the past year, he said China continued to be the largest source of foreign investment in Hungary. Projects such as Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd. and KunlunChem New Materials Co., Ltd. were implemented in Hungary, and Hungary became a key link in the Chinese-European industrial chain cooperation. Key projects such as CATL and BYD's Szeged plant are progressing smoothly and will start production within the year. The FiberHome optical cable manufacturing plant has opened its doors and started production, and the Vác smart warehouse in the China-Europe Trade and Logistics Park will soon be put into operation. BYD's European headquarters and R&D center are located in Budapest.

According to the ambassador, pragmatic cooperation between China and Hungary has brought tangible benefits to the people of both countries and Chinese companies strictly comply with Hungarian laws and regulations, actively integrate into society and give back to the local community, create new jobs, and boost local development. The pragmatic cooperation between China and Hungary is in line with the fundamental interests of both countries.

Sino-Hungarian cultural cooperation is showing strong vitality. The ‘2025 Imázsia·Chinese Film Week’ was held in Hungary, and tickets for ‘Nezha 2’, one of the world's top five films, sold out within three hours of going on sale. China and Hungary jointly organized a space lesson entitled ‘Heavenly Palace’, during which Hungarian youth engaged in dialogue and exchange with Chinese astronauts aboard the Shenzhou 20 spacecraft.
