The ÉLETJEL Fire & Rescue Team has received a donation of HUF 1 million from Provident Financial Ltd. The check symbolizing the support was handed over by the company's Guardian Angels at a festive event combined with a round table discussion. The event was attended by one of the association's search dogs, Smile the dachshund that has saved many lives during his missions.
The Szolnok-based ÉLETJEL Fire & Rescue Team received a grant of one million forints. Thanks to a donation from Provident Financial Plc., the Szolnok-based rescue team can now take part in another international rescue mission. The association operates as a volunteer rescue organization helping to save the population during natural and industrial disasters and war conflicts, and also helps in the search for missing persons with their specially trained search dogs.
"There is nothing more important than saving the lives of our fellow human beings. We pay tribute to the volunteers of the ÉLETJEL Fire & Rescue Team, who often save lives abroad, at the scene of natural disasters or even in war zones. In our own way, we also try to respond to the emergencies we encounter in our daily work. Unfortunately, our colleagues working in the field are often confronted with people whose lives are in danger in the course of their daily work. I am proud to say that, in the cases we have encountered so far, our colleagues have successfully averted or prevented tragedies and have been awarded the company's Guardian Angels award. The mission of the ÉLETJEL Fire & Rescue Team is in line with the philosophy of Provident, which is why we are very proud that with our current support, we can finance another international rescue mission," the Director of Communications and Corporate Relations at Provident Financial Plc., Márta Pálfalvi said.
According to a statement by Provident, the company's employees help those in need not only at work but also in their free time. They are often called upon to respond to very unexpected situations, whether it is to contain and extinguish a rapidly spreading bush fire threatening residential buildings, or to resuscitate a young child who was critically injured in a road accident on a weekend road trip. Most often, however, the assistance is related to their work: if an elderly customer does not open the door, the commercial advisers call for help and make sure that the person is safe. Several clients owe their lives to this caring attitude.
At Provident, special attention is given to staff who have taken part in life-saving actions - they are awarded the Provident Guardian Angel, it was revealed during a roundtable discussion at the ceremony. The company is keen to use the award to recognize and reward the efforts that colleagues make to protect the lives of their fellow human beings.
A special participant in the award ceremony, open to the press, was Smile, the smallest rescue dog. The trained dachshund has demonstrated his skills in several missions, including helping to find survivors during the earthquake in Turkey in February.
“We are delighted with Provident's donation, as it will enable us to take part in another international mission if necessary. One of the most memorable experiences we had in Turkey was when a four-year-old boy was rescued alive from the rubble. We are confident that Provident's support will enable us to contribute to saving more lives," the head of the ÉLETJEL Fire & Rescue Team, László Turi said on receiving the grant.
