Retail sales in Hungary rose 3.1% year-on-year in October, data released by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) on Thursday show.
Retail sales also rose 3.1% when adjusted for calendar year effects.
Adjusted food sales increased 1.2%, non-food sales climbed 5.2% and vehicle fuel sales edged up 0.6%.
Online and mail-order sales volume, which accounted for 8.9% of retail turnover, rose 10.8%.
In a month-on-month comparison, retail sales inched up 0.5%, adjusted for seasonal and calendar year effects.
In absolute terms, retail sales came to HUF 1,762 billion in October. Food sales accounted for 49% of the total, non-food sales for 37% and sales at petrol stations for 15%.
For the period January-October, retail sales rose an adjusted 2.9% and an unadjusted 2.6% from the same period a year earlier. Food sales increased an adjusted 2.6%, non-food sales 4.3% and motor fuel sales 0.7%.
