American cleaning product company Scrub Daddy is set to develop its Hungarian operation into a global production hub.
After acquiring Rosmarin Plc., a Hungarian manufacturer of environmentally conscious household cleaning products in 2023, Scrub Daddy will expand the production unit in Mártély, south-east Hungary, with a EUR 3.8 million investment.
Supported by the HIPA Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency, a factory hall of more than one thousand square meters with warehouse capacity and offices will be built, and automated production lines will be installed.
As a result, the village in Csongrád-Csanád county will become a major production unit, serving more than 40 countries with Scrub Daddy products. American and Mexican locations also competed for the project.
Scrub Daddy is known for its smiley-faced sponges and gained fame in 2012 through Shark Tank, an American TV show with startups pitching product ideas to potential investors. It is one of the players in the household chemicals industry striving for environmental sustainability; it does not use chlorine, for example, and its Mártély plant is powered by a small solar power plant.
The company has developed more than 40 products, from scouring pads to stain removal powder, which are distributed in cooperation with retail chains on five continents.
